New School Year

I start school tomorrow. A little nervous, a little excited, and just realized I am going to have a ton of homework. I kind of feel like a freshman, starting at a new school for the third time. It will nice to be busy, and have a goal to work towards over the next couple of years. I am hoping to come out with an R.N. in about three years from now.

I went to I.F. and visited with family, and loved every minute of it. I am lucky to have such fun sisters, and now I have an adorable niece. She was the highlight of my trip for sure, and I soaked her up as much as possible. It was also really fun to spend time with my family. I love them to death, and man was it hard to leave. I hope one day I can live close to them.

Thats about all that is going on in my neck of the woods, or should I say desert?

Employment!

I am happy to report I am now employed. I am now working at a bank, and today was my first day. So far, so good! I also learned that I do not do well with too much free time. It feels good to be busy, and I am so happy to be working again!

On a completely different note, I have also started doing Hot Yoga. Its yoga in a room that is 105 degrees. As torturous as it sounds, is actually quite fulfilling. It helps with strength, flexibility, balance, and the heat helps your body sweat out toxins. These are all things I can stand to improve on. The hardest part is getting up at 5 a.m.!

I have felt very strong about volunteering this week. My little sabbatical to Idaho and Wyoming made me take for granted all of the things my family and I have. Coming back to New Mexico and seeing so many more of those who don't have a place to live has pushed me to want to help. I live close to a soup kitchen, and have found that volunteering there is a simple and easy way to help. Its helped me learn to accept those who may be pungent at times, but have kind hearts, and are in need of a good meal. It also showed me that giving a very small amount of kindness and time to others takes my thoughts away from myself, and that has given me more happiness than I would have ever thought.

Just thought I would share.

Denver Fun

Jared and I getting there early for batting practice...unfortunately it was cancelled due to rain.

We had a great time in Denver on Friday. I went there to train some people for work and finished up in the afternoon. We went shopping at Outdoor World...it was awesome. I've heard its comparable to Cabella's. Then we went to the rockies game that evening. Unfortunately it rained the ENTIRE game, and we were soaking wet, but we still had a good time. It was sunny for about an hour before the game, good thing we took a picture then:)

Well, we have some big news !

Jared was accepted to the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque! So we will be moving there after the summer is over. He will have completed his masters degree in economics here at the U of WY, and will be working towards a P.h.D. in New Mexico. I am excited for several reasons...

1. Lots of sunshine!!!

2. I will actually get to experience all 4 seasons again.

3. A new adventure seems like fun

4. SHOPPING again. They have 3 COSTCO's...my favorite store.

5. Oh yes, most of all, LOTS OF SUNSHINE :)

It also seems like there is still a lot of out door activities to do there, and we will still get to go skiing in the winter! Jared is really going to miss Laramie, so that will be hard for him, but I think we will really be able to enjoy life in NM - I just have to remind him that he will be able to play softball year round, or at least most of the year...

Well the last couple of weeks have been very stress filled, and I think it will probably only be getting worse! Life is crazy. I have also found my self feeling unmotivated. Once I get home from work, I have no motivation to do things like work out, clean, have fun with my puppies, and other normal evening activities. Not sure why I am like this lately, but I realize that this is making me crazy and need to get out of this funk!

Any suggestions?

Well, this winter has been a very LONG one, and I am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! We have had a couple of sunny days that I have tried to soak in. I love having the cold around when its snowy for christmas, but after the christmas spirit goes away, around the beginning of January I want it to change instantly to summer.

I will get a break from our harsh wyoming winter in about a week when the girls in my family get to go to Las Vegas for our Spring Break! We are going to see the blue man group, and then do some sight seeing! I cannot wait for 70 degrees - that was the temperature there today. It will be so nice not to have to wear my winter coat.

This is our little Doggie Mayzie!! Jared's mom send her a cute valentines day dress, and she didn't love it at first, but she eventually warmed up to it :) I think when she realized how pretty she was, she didn't mind it so much!!

I was able to take a trip to Idaho over Presidents day weekend. One of the main reasons I went was to see my friend Whitney's new baby Brynlee. She is adorable, and we took some pictures of her while I was there. This was one of my favorites.

Jared and I have been going to Snowy Range Ski Area about every weekend for the last little while, and Jared has been hitting the jumps. This video is from a couple of weeks ago. They look pretty good but have actually improved quite a bit since this was taken. I will get some new shots next time we are out there. In this video, Jared goes first, then his cousin Lane jumps right afterwards. They are really fun to watch!

Jared and I carved pumpkins yesterday, and they both turned out pretty cool! Jared's was appropriate considering the Yankees played game 3 of the world series today... and they won! Happy Halloween to all :)

Jared went fishing on the Laramie River and caught a GIANT Brown trout. This is the biggest fish I have ever seen come out of the laramie. It was around 22 inches long, and has a huge mouth.

DUCK RACE!!

Well, today we participated in the Laramie Duck Race. For those of you who dont know, its an event where rubber duckies are dropped in the river, and they race (slowly float along) to a finish line. I had three ducks in the race, and well...none of them came through for me :( But, it was still really fun to go, get a free pancake breakfast, and watch the ducks race to the finish line. The funniest part was the older men in waiters herding the ducks along. The ducks would get stuck on the sides, and need a little nudge every now and then. I know, I should have brought my camera!

Surgery :(

Well for those of you who did not know, I had my gaul blatter taken out on Friday. Let me just tell you that it was not fun. The hospital part wasn't too bad, especially when they have an IV in you that is constantly controlling your pain with meds. The worst part is coming home, and having the strong stuff wear off.

The surgeon that worked on me is supposed to be the best, and to be honest, I don't have a clue how it went, but it only took him 45 minutes, and I am still alive, so I think everything went well. I am reminded that you use your abdomen muscles for EVERYTHING. I have 4 incisions in my abdomen, and they hurt like the dickens, but no more gaul blatter pain!!! Right now the soreness is about as bad as the gaul blatter stuff, but its not constant, and I can go to my happy place after taking a little white pill called percocet!

I also was reminded of the good friends I have. My husband is awesome, and is taking care of me completely. While he was gone on Saturday, his sister Rachael, and cousin Melissa were there to help me. They are both sweet hearts, and even though they probably don't realize how much they helped, having them stop by to check on me really helped! I just wanted to thank everyone that stopped by or sent flowers, it is really nice to have a pretty bouquet to look at while you are lying in bed :)

Today is day three of recovery, and I don't feel as good as I thought I would, but everyday is gets a little better. I am thinking that we should just start genetically altering our babies so they don't have gaul blatters - it would be much easier for everyone that way and its not like we actually need them :) Well thank you again for everyone that has sent flowers, or stopped by to help.

Weekend in Denver

At the planetarium in the Museum - The word is behind us :)

We first visited the Natural History Museum in Denver. It was really cool. The first exhibit we went to was a planetarium- is was a movie that was projected onto a circular shaped ceiling, so if felt like a 3d movie. It educated me on black holes-I now also further understand the space time continuum - thats for all of you star treky's

Then we went to a northern American animals exhibit, pretty cool. After that we saw a native American Indian exhibit, a prehistoric journey exhibit (dinosaurs-so of course Jared's favorite), then lastly a ancient egyptian exhibit. Very educational and entertaining.

After the museum, we went to a rockies game, super fun, and they won!! Overall our short trip was super fun - and we also are getting much better at navigating our way through the interstates of Denver.

We went fishing, I only got 1 bite, Jared caught three fishies, they were pretty small ones, but small is better than none,

Camping was pretty cold, and it rained and hailed while we were hiking, but I guess that is what we have come to expect, Laramie has some crazy weather. This pic was taken during a sunny part of the day. The Mountains where we camped are beautiful, and everything was nice and green, even in August! It was kind of sad to see all of the pine trees that are being killed by the pine beetle though, there were a lot more dead trees that I expected to see. Overall we had a great time! Hopefully we can get one more trip in by the end of the summer.

Our Neighbors!!

These are a family of birds that live right next to our apartment in some very tall pine trees. There are about 15-20 of them every morning just hanging out, kind of cool! I think they are vultures, but am not sure. I am hoping there diet doesn't consist of small dogs named Mayzie :)

Fishing!!!!!

I took my dogs and went fishing today. It was a blast and I caught some freakin huge fish. The bigger fish I am holding was a 4 pounder (maybe a little more) and it was 19 inches long. My dad taught me well...thanks dad :) We also cooked them and ate them- they were pretty darn yummy.

This is the bike Jared got me for my b-day (an early b-day present!) I got him a bike for his birthday in February, so now we are fully equipped to take on the trails together around laramie. We took them for a spin up to Vedauwoo ( its pronounced vedavoo, pictures are above!) Our dogs Eddie and Mayzie had a ball running on the mountain trails. I on the other hand realized how out of shape I am, especially when you are riding up hill for the majority of the trail. Its worth it though when you get the exhilaration of riding back down super fast!! Hopefully by the end of the summer I can build up some stamina :) I just need to remember to bring my camera next time.

So here is my first post as a blogger! I guess I will just let everyone know what has been happening lately :) First, school is finally over for the summer, (for Jared). We are glad to have his stressful classes over with, at least for a little while. Hopefully we can start camping again for the summer!!

Second, it finally feels like summer has arrived in Laramie, WY. For those of you who don't know, summer is heaven here! I will try to take some pictures so you know what I am talking about.

Third, I just found out that I got a new job! I have been working at K-mart for the past 2 1/2 years as the HR manager, and while it has its moments, I am ready for something new (unfortunately photography is only my part-time job for now). So I will be starting in a couple weeks at the Mountain Cement Plant, doing similar human resource work, but I think it will be a nice change of pace!

Fourth, I am looking to put together a CO-Ed softball team that will start in July, so if you live in Laramie, and are interested, let me know!!!!!

Well, that is really everything that has happened recently, so I will see how this whole blog thing goes :)
